Charlie Zoller is a graduate student in physics at UIC. His research interests lie in the area of the properties of materials at extreme conditions, including planetary materials, ferroelectrics, and non-linear systems. Currently, he is studying hydrogen-helium mixtures at high pressures using Brillouin scattering methods, with the broader goal of gaining insight into the physics of low mass fluids at the conditions of gas giant planetary interiors. He is also participating in construction of instrumentation in the laboratory, including the Raman spectroscopy, Brillouin scattering and laser heating systems.
