About

Zack Whipple Is a graduate student in chemistry at UIC. His work is primarily focused on high energy density materials (HEDM’s) as part of the EXtreme EnErgy Density (EXEED) Research Center of Excellence. Zack’s research applies extreme condition techniques such as high-pressure x-ray diffraction and ball milling to search for new HEDM’s. His current projects involve synthesis of small molecules with high nitrogen content which are stable at ambient conditions. Zack has an incredibly supportive family, and enjoys his free time with his daughter, Trinity, and wife, Jessica.
